Re: Eduard 1/48 Hawker Tempest II
Fantastic work as always John. Even in this scale! Thank you John! I appreciate it! Repair....I don't see no stinkin' repair. Looks great, you'd never know you had an issue Thanks Johnny! Because of how the part broke, I was able to align the breaks so that the parts fit back together naturally. Th...

Re: Eduard 1/48 Hawker Tempest II
Thanks guys! Last night, I went a little further and tried to get the instrument panel into place. https://i.postimg.cc/hjWc23Wk/IMG-5757.jpg A little too much pressure and the starboard side sidewall collapsed. https://i.postimg.cc/GtbrC8pz/IMG-5759.jpg I managed to get the tubular frame back toget...

Re: Eduard 1/48 Hawker Tempest II
Time to start cobbling the cockpit parts together. Here is the floor board with the foot rests and control stick in place. https://i.postimg.cc/BZgCV53y/IMG-5748.jpg I've decided to use the decaled instrument panel instead of the photoetch. Detail is noticeably heavier than the PE but this might be ...

Re: Eduard 1/48 Hawker Tempest II
Moving along now, I've painted most of the cockpit components separately. The green color is AK Real Color RAF Cockpit Grey Green (RC293).
The tail wheel well has been painted and weathered.

Re: Eduard 1/48 Hawker Tempest II
The Eduard resin exhausts are nicely detailed despite their small size. Each array is about 1/2 inch long and I was afraid of them dropping into the fuselage when it came time to install them. https://i.postimg.cc/fRx2FRd8/IMG-5739.jpg So I boxed in the area with small pieces of sheet styrene. https...

Re: Eduard 1/48 Hawker Tempest II
Thank you Remco! The parts with PE enhancements have been given a coat of Mr Primer Surfacer 1000 including some scratchbuilt levers on the throttle quadrant. https://i.postimg.cc/rpQpb17s/IMG-5736.jpg The other cockpit parts are here including the footrest, tubular sidewall structure, seat and rear...

Re: Eduard 1/48 Hawker Tempest II
Thanks guys! I've cobbled together two versions of the instrument panel. One is pre-painted Eduard photoetch panels glued onto the kit plastic parts (right). The other is the kit plastic parts with the molded detail and the kit decals placed over it (left). It took a bit of effort to get the decal t...

Re: Eduard 1/48 Hawker Tempest II
Yeah, it's good to try and do something different. And I'm planning on an overall NMF finish, which will be a first for me. From what I've read, its a quality kit so this should be a good way to hone off the rough edges after a long absence. Airfix as a relatively new Sea Fury in 1/48 that seemed to...

Eduard 1/48 Hawker Tempest II
Coming off a long break from modeling, I momentarily jumped back onto my Spitfire XIVe conversion but now as I await some additional 3D-printed parts from Laminar Flow Design, I am going to start something new and a little different. Straying from my normal WW2 fighter subjects, I am going to do a p...

Re: Tamiya 1/32 Spitfire XIVe Conversion
Wow, looking good on the mods. Been keeping up on FB, blad to see you back at the bench! Thank you Lyle! The trip to Central Asia is always a high point of the year for me. The months of organizing and preparation, the actual trip itself and then the mental decompression and jetlag afterwards and g...
