Stuart's 1/48 P-38 Lightning!

Post by Stuart »

Hi all,

I'm not 100% certain what I'll be build as I don't have any Tamiya kits in the stash (soon to be rectified). However I suspect it might be this one...

I've heard such good things about these new modern Tamiya kits that I'd love to give one a go.

I've not ordered it yet but, I've been given a wedge of cash from my Mother in Law to get myself something for Christmas and this may well be it. I might also do a bit of 1/48 armour as well.

Cheers!

Tamiya 1/48 armor is great stuff! And it’s nice to have stuff in the same scale as aircraft kits. It’s just a shame that they have barely scratched the surface of modern AFVs and Softskins. That is a HUGE untapped market.

That is why I'm thrilled to be building in 1/72 scale for aircraft and armor. Still, I'm sure eventually things will pick up for 1/48 scale guys.

Stuart, I highly recommend Tamiya 1/48 scale armor as well. Yes, I did build one once: it was the Tamiya Komatsu Bulldozer that I built for someone as a commission for his Guadalcanal wargame . If you don't choose armor, then that Lightning would be a fantastic choice for this Group Build.

I've heard good things but never pulled the trigger on one.
Building a kit from your stash is like cutting the head off a Hydra, two more take it’s place.

Well as this GB officially starts tomorrow I thought I'd better post up some pictures of my kit - the new tool P-38 Lightning.

There is a lot of nice plastic in the box - it's pretty full. I'm going to be really interested to see how it goes together.

Me likey Tamiya P-38 Lightning. Me want one too! Me no money to buy one. Too expensive. Same for Tamiya F-14 Tomcat. :bored:
