What model kit you never built...

Post by BlackSheep214 »

During the 70s and 80s - my youth and teen years, model kits were plentiful everywhere from the local Kmart & Woolworth’s to the neighborhood corner stores. Reminiscing the other night, a couple came to mind after watching a Amelia Earhart documentary on Netflix. I have a renewed interest in doing the Electra aircraft that Earhart flew before she disappeared enroute to a fuel stop. The other two....the Wright Brothers Kitty Hawk Flyer and Charles Lindbergh’s Spirit of St.Louis aircraft. Yeah, I know. :bag: :bag:

Funny, I did do the Titanic back then. Go figure.... :giggles:

Let’s hear what kit you had wished you’ve done but passed on it?

If I still built 1/72, there would be a whole bunch... but I’ll stick with 1/48 and my occasional dalliances into 1/32. There are a few 1/32 between the wars Yellow Wings types by Hasegawa, Monogram, and Williams Brothers that I never built, but would like to try- Boeing P-12/F4B-4, Curtiss BF2C, Grumman F3F, and Curtiss Sparrowhawk. Maybe the old Matchbox 1/32 Lysander as well. And, although I never saw them nor knew of them back in the day, if Atlantis ever issues the old Aurora 1/48 H-21 and CH-47 I will be all over those.

Since I wasn’t active in the hobby then, there really aren’t any. But, there are bunches I want to get to...Herkies, Ospreys, Douglas a/c, oh so many...ooh, the B-58, B-52, all that.

There are a lot I'd like to build but most are in the stash. I'm not good at self denial, apparently. :nono:

I can't think of one that I never built and is now gone :hmm:
I did build the Wright Flyer and Spirit of SL. The fit was horrible even for a kid as I recall, You didn't miss anything.
I even built the "visible" man, woman, horse and cricket kits as well as the V8 twice and Mazda rotary engine once. I never did get those things to work right.
Building a kit from your stash is like cutting the head off a Hydra, two more take it’s place.
