Stuart, nice to hear that your going at the F-16CJ again. The first was a rehearsal. Yes, the Revell 104 comes with the different tails to do a C or a G. Nearly all of 104s sent to Europe during the Berlin Crisis were A models, so they had to be slightly disassembled, and transported in Globemasters to get across the Atlantic. They were actually Air National Guard units activated for the crisis. The active duty As were part of Air Defense Command and could not be sent overseas due to their mission. There was only one wing of Cs, and I’m not sure if they were sent to Europe or not for the Berlin Crisis.

John, that fireboat is a sweet find! Perfect for keeping with your firefighter subjects theme.

Yeah, it's a really nice kit and deserved a second chance. I had a few paint issues on the first one as well that I'm hoping to improve on this time around. I've also picked up a Hasegawa F-16B, so it'll be interesting to see how kits from the two big boys compare.

I'm really getting into the Viper of late. I have to say that until I started reading up on USAF history this year I'd always assumed that the Eagle was the main US fighter pre the F-22, and that the F-16 was just a lower cost fill in. I hadn't realised that the Air Force had twice as many of them than the F-15's covering a lot more roles (until the F-15E obviously). It really was the backbone of the USAF for quite a time - plucky little aircraft.

Yep sorry, quite right, it was the A's that were airlifted over during the Berlin Crisis - I have some cool imagines in a USAFE history book of them being unloaded. They did however, have C's as well - some were stationed in Spain during the Cuban Missile Crisis, again my book has some nice photos.

I have to say this came as quite a surprise. I'd always thought (wrongly) that the Starfighter wasn't used on active service in the USAF (asides from a few in Vietnam) and that most on the ones in US colours were either test aircraft or those owned by other countries - like the Luftwaffe G's. It's a bit of history I'd like to capture in plastic at some point - both ESCI and Italeri did a 1/72 early model kit but boy, they ain't cheap. :wow:

Very nice! What kind of base did it come with if you wanted it in flight mode? Similar to what mine had?

This will be my second X-wing to go along with my Y-wing. The base is supposed to be sand I believe.
