I went looking there a few years ago and didn't like the vibe at all. If you have skills you are usually ignored by what i saw. It seemed cliquey and just not my thing. Even Modelcarsmagazine is getting on my nerves. I post stuff many of you have seen and often they get views but little to no comments. I know what i build has a certain quality and I suspect there is jealousy. There were some excellent builders there years ago and they slowly got chased off by a great many of the jealous types. I know who they are and they ignore great builds in favor of some mediocre stuff. I know we all have a level we are at and that we are always striving to improve, but some of these guys have been at it for years and i think some are getting worse. Then there are those who post and will not compliment anyone for any reason whatsoever. I usually offer criticism [constructive] and am either ignored or told to go away.

I'm always positive. I'm always helpful. But there are times........

I see that there too. A poster by the name of Foz has built a 1/24 B-17 totally from scratch and myself and a few others have been the only ones posting on his build except now when I try to post over there I get a 24hr review then it never shows up. Funny thing is I never got in a argument with anyone there except GM and that was on my old account that sometimes I can log into but it won't even have the option for me to post are reply to anyone.

GM never, ever posts his builds....PERIOD!!! All he's good for is reporting posts to the mods he finds offensive. Hell, he probably demands a majority of posts of certain members to be rejected.

For someone like GM that never posts his builds seem to have a whole lot of time on his hands instead of being productive.

He did a little bit of model work in some of my Monogram Mafia GBs there, but it’s been a long time since he posted any work. Years. But then again, a lot of the more prolific posters there are mostly talk and not much work. Ah well....

First off, I usually don't look at other posts that much (my fault and needs to change) mainly because I just don't have the time like I used to so I don't comment on others builds. Like I said, I need to change that.
I find it much more relaxed and a tighter more accepting group here. If that's the persona your trying to show, it's working.
FSM has been my home since 2014. I don't really see a clicks there, except most of the ship guys....and maybe some of the armor guys , but I may be blind. You want clicks, look at Modelwarships.com, those guys are clicks, WOW. Like Johnny said, the GB's are great over there but I do tend to get bored with some of the other subjects. Maybe that's why I stopped looking around as well as the lack of time.
Sorry you got booted again Tom. FSM has really started going down hill for the last few years.

Ya - I got a 30 day suspension for tearing GM a new one lol. I think the mods had a talk with him because he hasn't been playing the nanny much at all since then. This place is way better.

I've had lunch with Bill (GM) in the past and found him to be a good fellow, at least in person. He has had some health issues in the last few years. But I do try to avoid dustups because I enjoy the forums and like to support them any way I can. I think many of the seasoned builders have left FSM and there is a high proportion of newbies there, and I don't mind contributing if it helps them in the hobby. You don't have to be a top expert to help people who have not been modeling long, that's where I think I fit in. There are still a lot of fun contributors in the GB area at FSM.

I can sympathise with the FSM organization a bit, as the publishing industry, like newspapers, are not a happy place to be, economically speaking. All that said, I do enjoy this forum a lot.

I can't really comment as I've only been a member for a few months and haven't been on for ages - my main problem with fsm is how the forum is actually structured - and those adverts!

FSM was the first forum that I subscribed to and I had alot of fun there in the first few years. I ran a couple of group builds over there that were pretty successful but after a while I noticed those with any skills at all or had developed skills in their time being there started straying to other , more skill challenging forums. I've never been banned or scolded at FSM or anywhere else I've been but I try to keep to forum rule sets....mostly. I stay away from opinion based topics and threads and just keep in mind that we're all birds of a feather. I've got enough drama at work and other places to last a lifetime so I just try to have fun with other people that share the same hobby as I have. That being said....this is a good place to share in that hobby.
