Going shopping today!

Post by LyleW »

Getting a new external hard drive. My 2TB drive went belly up, legs extended in the air dead sometime in the last two weeks or so. With the wife sick, was not using it. Took it to a local shop and they tried to get the data. Called and told me it was blank. No partitions, nothing. Blank. So, all the scans of decals, instructions, pictures, documents, etc are gone. Not life shattering, but annoying as can be. Probably half or more is on a couple of other dr

oh well.

I recently got a new drive that I use for backups. Stupid cheap these days.

WD 2TB Elements Portable External Hard Drive HDD, USB 3.0, Compatible with PC, Mac, PS4 & Xbox - WDBU6Y0020BBK-WESN

Bummer that you lost your data. I use a simple backup called SecondCopy $30 and has save my bacon more than once.
Thanks,
John

Thanks. In the grand scheme of things, no biggie. A PITA, though.

Oh, the drive is a solid state (SSD) 2 TB drive...$60.00 at Best Buy. A 4 TB was 90.

Going to an SSD for the drive your programs reside on makes a whopping difference in the speed of the computer. Especially in the time it takes windows to start. Doesn't seem to make as much difference if it's just a data storage drive.

So true when I built my new pc I went with Sony Evo SSDs the speed that windows and other programs load now is amazing.
