1/32 Hasegawa Fw 190D-13 Yellow 10
Re: 1/32 Hasegawa Fw 190D-13 Yellow 10
Very interesting approach to weathering the tires. It looks very convincing in scale. I think I'll try something similar in the next build.

Thanks Clint!
The wings have glued onto the fuselage. FYI... I used a variation of the "pastel staining" technique to dirty up the the wheel wells a bit. Instead of placing the drops of pastel one by one, I used a stipple brush to "spray" little droplets of the brown pastel wash into the wheel well.
Preliminary fitting of the central wing part. It looks to be slightly undersized but a decent fit overall.
Gotta deal with some glue joint clean-up work before I can finally move on to painting.

That join area on the leading edge of the wing at the roots tends to be an issue across the board on these D series aircraft. I had to deal with that one ....twice. Once when I built it and then again at a dang SHOW of all places. I managed to tack 'er back in place and still took a 3rd place with it.
Fantastic progress on this beauty. You really do make this look all too easy ya know.

Thanks Joe! I don't mind any leading edge cleanup as it is much easier than at the wing root! And no worries about this model at a show... not gonna happen!

Worked on the wing to bottom fuselage joint, which was filled with black CA glue and re-scribed. The area received the rivet treatment and now I can move on to the wing roots.

The central wing bottom, with the attached ammo chute is glued into place using CA glue since it is resin.
The gaps are filled in with White Milliput. Any excess can be removed with a damp cloth since Milliput, prior to curing, is water-soluble. This makes for a very clean fill, with a greatly reduced need for sanding.

I have apoxie sculpt and miliput. I have never thought of using them as a filler. Grand idea.

Milliput is excellent for gap filling. You did a good job of installing that central wing section. Under paint shouldn't see any traces of gaps ever being there.

Thank you! Yes, Milliput is a very useful filler. I'll have to check my references but I think the joints around the central wing piece are panel lines so they will be treated as such and not made to disappear.
