Yup. No need to “harmonize” the guns to converge at a particular distance. The shoot straight ahead for a nice cone of fire pattern. And that 30mm round delivered a punch- one or two hits could bring down a bomber. The Russians chose a similar path with their Migs postwar, using a combination of 23mm & 37mm guns on the 15 and 17, and 30mm guns on the 19. All of which were absolutely deadly to bombers caught in their fire, as proven over Korea and Soviet border airspace.jeaton01 wrote:Neat, Joe. I would bet the cannon could be nasty at any range up to 450 as well, like the P-38 since they were on the nose.

Looks like all the "bad guys" had the weapons combo thing down. Although we weren't too shabby either but then again......all we had to worry about was shooting down fighter planes....not bombers.

Just to show some progress at the bench. I've managed to get the fuselage halves joined together. I've just got the upper nose panels press fitted into place during the whole body work/ painting process. Sanding and filling are at a premium here.....
One thing I do NOT miss about aircraft modeling is seam filling in small areas. The seam line going down the middle of the bird was interrupted by these small panels in front of the windscreen soooooooooooo.....gotta take care of the seam lines on the panels themselves. I'll be using my tried and true super glue filling method on these and then I'll rescribe the panel lines.

Looking good, Joe
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

It was just a joke fellas!! I was just saying that I'm used to auto builds. This whole military finish gig is a little different.Stikpusher wrote: High gloss on a 262?..... curious....

Looks terrific Joe! You opted to leave the Jumo nacelles closed I see. Look forward to seeing color on this!
