Flanker Madness

Post by Fermis »

Well, it has been quite some time since I've done a proper WIP 'round these parts.
Summer was stupid busy and the bench lights remained off, for the entire time.
Since work ended, I finished up 3 109s (1/48) that I started back in Spring, and also did 3 P-40's and an HS-129 (1/72).

Now, with the dust and rust knocked off...it's time to dive into these!

Image

Starting with the big'n...there's a bit of a problem, right off the bat!

This looks like they did some "grafting", to make the 2 seater from the single seat molds...

Image

The new section is nice and smooth, while the rest of the model has a pebbly surface :bored:
A little putty for the "graft" lines...sanding and a better scribing will take care of the rest.

Using Eduard PE for the pit (rest will be OOB). I couldn't find any refs that matched the color Eduard chose. I did find lots of variations, from a pale green to a dark-ish grey-green. I went with the basic "Russian interior green"...which does match some refs I found.

Started by brush painting over Eduards "light grey/purple-ish"...

Pit is mostly done...HUDs will go in later, as well as seats from Wolfpack.

Will get cracking on the 72nd kits soon!

And a "Big 'Ol Howdy!

Looks like the rust fell away quite nicely! Hope you guys are well.

:yikes:

Wouh!

A Flanker in scale 1/32, massive, the canopy looks to be as big as the fuselage of a 1/48 Mustang... :hmm:
