Thanks Bruce! I'm thrilled to see you reply.

This does feel different in many ways. I keep looking for smaller parts that are much bigger and keep missing them until I realize they are big. I also find myself assembling many subassemblies that would be simplified or molded in one piece in my chosen scale. It is a unique experience.

Keep it up Duke it's looking great! I'm surprised the Dragon DS was still good. Every set of DS tracks I've had has went bad, you take them out of the box and they will just crumble.

Thanks Floki. So far these are still good. I'm hoping they stay that way when I paint them black so I don't have to deal with aftermarket. I don't know that I could afford aftermarket nowadays.

Worst case you can get some AFV Club replacement tracks... those run around $20, give or take a few...

Thanks Carlos. I'll look at that possibility as a backup.

Thanks Stuart! I appreciate that. I'm hoping to get paint on this in the next few days.

This week I did manage to get some more work on my 1/35th scale Patton for this Tribute Build/AMPS Group Build, despite all the drawbacks and obstacles. First I masked off all the vision ports in the cupola with Tamiya tape and Silly Putty so I could paint it:

Later when the airbrush came out, I shot this with the OD color:

Next I shot the hull. Lower first:

The the upper hull:

They are attached, by the way....

Then I shot the turret:

Here's a shot of everything together:

After that I brush painted the mantlet cover with Field Drab. The DS plastic made it look gloss even after it dried:

That is where I left off on that. I'll do something about that mantlet cover later. I have a few ideas for trying to make it look more 'fabric' and dull.

Thanks for looking in, comments are always welcome.

Lots of progress. Didnt realize you have to have glass to mask in the armor world. That and roadwheels!
Thanks,

That DS stuff does a lot of odd things. Even leach some sort of oil out of it. Did you prime everything first?
