ESCI 1/35 Leopard 2

Post by Stikpusher »

I could swear that I posted this last nite. I know that I created this post here, copied it, the pasted it onto all of the other sites where I’m active. But I must have forgotten to hit “submit” :headslap:

Anyways.... I built this in a bit under 12 hours, divided up into three four hour sessions for So.Cal.AMPS 12 Hour Build Challenge. It won’t win any contests, but it felt good to finish another build!

And all things considered, I’m pretty satisfied with how it turned out. This is my first time using AK Real Color paint thinned with Gunze Mr Leveling Thinner, and I really like how the paint airbrushed. Last time that I airbrushed I used Tamiya thinner, and it was a much grittier finish.

Great finish Carlos. I agree thinning AK Real Colors and Tamiya paint with Mr. Leveling thinner makes it spray so much better I'll never use isopropyl or Tamiya thinner again.

You can see where I achieved so much tonal variety on the topsides with that combo. The AK Real Colors are outstanding! I am definitely a believer now! Thank goodness that the local shops carry the line.

Looks real good, Carlos. So we can hope for a production speed up to about 3 per week now?

Ummmmmm..... NO. :nono:

But... this does give me two completions for the year so far. And I think I can possibly wrap up two more by the end of April if I stay in the groove...

Great work Stik! I'm a true believer in the AK Real Colors! I'm almost using them exclusively! My LHS just expanded their AK Real colors too!

Most impressive Carlos! Yeah this is potentially a contender. It sure looks like you spent more than twelve hours on this.

Way to go!

Thank you Mark. And the reality is that on sessions 2 and 3 I had time to spare. 15 minutes and 10 minutes respectively. So completion well within the 12 hour window. And I do gotta say that it looks much better on my shelf compared to the Testors Leopard 2 that I built around 30+ years ago. That sucker is slated for an overhaul. :hmm:
