GamesWorkshop LOTR Goblins

Post by BorgR3mc0 »

So life has been throwing me lemons. Last Wednesday day I had emergency chirurgery for testicular cancer. Long story short, the right one is gone...
As a result I cannot carry anything heavier then 5kg during the six week recovery phase. So not carrying my spraybooth or compressor. So no "real" modelling can be done. So I thought I would paint some figures as a distraction. These are some GamesWorkshop Goblins I picked up on sale. I have painted a few of them already. The quality is outstanding.
I use brown as a base and the paint all major surfaces, next a wash, detail painting and highlights.

Here are some pics of the first three steps.

The metal and leather are both brown and maybe not to much different. On the other hand, in the movie these Goblins look like nick covered blobs so...

First order of business, recover from your surgery. I wish you a speedy recovery.
Second, awesome work on the figures!

First off, a speedy and complete recovery to you!

Secondly, nice work so far on the goblins. Those Games Workshop figures are good stuff to help you pass the time.

Thanks guys for all the kind words.

I am still figuring out how to photograph these figures properly. They are even more susceptible to problems in lighting.

Here is another one. This time not in the "traditional" colours but a bit different.

Borg, I hope and pray for a swift recovery for you. Take care and follow all doc's orders.

The Goblins look fantastic! That first one looks like it's right out of the Lord of the Rings!

Thanks for your kind words. My current diagnosis is that the cancer was contained to the testicle so there is no need for chemo now.

And I finished these Goblins.

The end result:

Borg, sincerest apologies for being late to respond, but I wanted you to also have my best wishes for recovery. My only excuse is that of not regularly checking areas outside of the more heavily trafficked “upstairs” area of the forum’s layout. Now that I am “downstairs” I am seeing the news for the first time. As a fellow cancer survivor, I still feel the twin shock of diagnosis followed by the doctor telling me not to lift anything heavier than a newspaper for six weeks in my case. I am following the trail of your orcs and look forward to news!
