Been getting some work done on this - the cockpit has been painted and decalled, canopy dipped in future etc...
Nose weight in, front wheel well painted and fitted... I've also added a spreader bar to widen the lower half of the fuselage to help fit...
And now the fun really begins - pass me an electric sander and a bucket of filler...
Cheers!

You are a machine!
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..
Re: Airfix 1/48 Frontline Fighters gift set...
Thanks Lyle. tbh there's nothing complicated about these Airfix Tornado kits - they're only about 50 parts. The challenge comes from the poor fit and that every join needs filler. You don't want to know how much I've just used on the nose...

Belt or palm?...pass me an electric sander...
Looking great so far Stuart! The spreader bar is a great idea; I might have to try that with my Shinmeiwa.

Got a little confused looking at previous posts but I think I've gotten it straightened out. The painted Tornado is NOT one of these builds right?

Hi John. That's correct, the Pink Tornado is a GR.1 I built last year. If I recall I picked up this set from ebay and started messing about with it whilst I was still building the pervious one.jkim wrote:Got a little confused looking at previous posts but I think I've gotten it straightened out. I'm currently waiting for some decent weather so I can go and sand this one in the garden - I share my bench space with my home office at the mo, and I've no desire to cover my working area (and both my laptops) in 1/2 a ton of dust!

It's Mike's fault - him and his 'two Hornets' on the bench!
Not content with just the F.3, I've added this wee beasty to the build pile...
I'm just in the process of getting it to the same stage as the F.3, and then I'll be doing lots of filling and sanding!
Cheers!
