Re: The Bumble Bee
Lucas, quite strange indeed to someone whose brain is wired like mine! I'm a pretty literal guy.Still, this is quality work.
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

Re: The Bumble Bee
That's looking wicked - like a proper 1970/80s Sci-Fi film prop.
As an aside, I still think it was a shame when Sci-Fi went away from using models to computer generated effect - The models had a realistic quality that you just don't get with CGI...

But there are some exceptions from the rule - "Moon" is probably the best example for it. No CGI at all and a good story too. If you dont know that movie already - watch it!

Re: The Bumble Bee
In the new STAR WARS episodes a lot of studio models will be used. Up to a scale of 1:1.
Times have changed, CGI is cheaper now than high quality models. But a big Disney production can afford that, luckily.

Re: The Bumble Bee
Ill wath the new part just for completeness - and I dont really expect a good story. Maybe theyll dance the intro instead of showing the legendary intro. The other Lucas, i.e. George made a complaint to the studios, because they just ignored his ideas. But thats another story.
Meanwhile, the project continues... Somewhere I had a Revell F-89 Scorpion kit. A perfect kit for a kitbash: Well detailed and high standard - not bad for a kit thats some years on the market now.
These are the parts I used:
-Air intakes:
>> now at the rear end
-Nose:
>> on the belly
-smaller landing flaps:
>> just below the air deck, at the rear end of it
-larger landing flaps:
>> those are just perfect for new decks located at the sides of the main air deck!
-Engine front
>> same here, but different - upgraded with some plastic profile and lead wire. Better solution than the Harrier parts, it would take too long maybe.
And some 1/144 Revell Tomcat exhausts on the belly.
