Tom, Carlos, thanks.

She had been feeling bad for, oh, 6-8 weeks. Labs were generally okay we were told. Probably a virus. Who knows. When the seizure started, she was out, unconscious, for probably 20 min or more. Hard to say exactly. We had gone to the ER (again) on the Sunday before and the said everything looked okay. So, what happened from Sunday evening to Tuesday evening? Same facility so same lab…

Man so sorry to hear this Lyle. Glad to hear that she's doing ok now. You'd be amazed at what can cause a seizure.

Have you considered a second opinion at another hospital or specialist - at least a specialist elsewhere? I get it if it’s the same hospital closest to you, same lab but makes you kinda wonder if there’s something else amiss. I’m guessing bloodwork had been done that revealed magnesium deficiency.

I remember my son used to have dizzy spells/vomiting episodes every so many weeks like clockwork since he was little. Thankfully, a new pediatrician was on top of it and told us this isn’t normal. So he sent us to a specialist out in Syracuse and the doctor there ordered an MRI. The best news we got was it was a condition that’s non-threatening and my son will outgrow them as he gets older. They will turn into migraines. So far, I can count on one hand the migraines he’s had since 5th grade thru middle school/high school years. He turns 21 next month.

No, we haven’t. I get the thinking though. Fixing the magnesium seems to have “fixed” the seizures. Now we have to fix the after effects. Should it happen again? I don’t know.

Lyle, I am very glad it was nothing more serious and is something that should be treatable! Prayers to you and your wife my friend.

Lyle, I am sorry to read about your wife's misfortune. But I'm happy the cause was determined. So many things can happen to us as we age and some of them just seem to come out of nowhere when they hit. Take care of her and yourself through all of this and stay positive! I hope the stay in rehab is short and successful for her! 👍
