Very nice - I really like that camo on the Croatian Air Force bird - it really suits it. If I had a real 172 I'd be tempted to paint it up like that (any idea what the black panel under the wing is for?)Fermis wrote:Slung some paint last night.
The white one...pretty straight forward!
Went with the Croatian Air Force on the other. I pretty much did guess work for the colors...mixed up the green using OD, Russian Topside grn, Chromate Yellow, and light grey. Mixed Red and Brown for the mottling....all freehand.

Most interesting look on that Cessna now...

I know it looks black in the pic...it's actually green, and only slightly darker than the green on the rest of the plane. I'm guessing it's to cover up whomevers markings were there before they acquired it....maybe just covering up the civil reg. #s...???portman wrote:

Re: 1/48 Italeri Cessna 172
Glad we are back!!!
In the down time, these builds have been completed!
Overall, not a bad kit, and does well OOB.
The only issues I encountered(kit wise)...very tail heavy, nothing some lead can't take care of. A little bit of trimming is required at the front/center of the wing part, where the windscreen meets up with the roof. The nose gear is a bit too straight up/down, it should angle forward a bit. I just bent the gear a little.
The only things I did different/added were to replace the exhaust pipe with aluminum tube, I snipped off the beacon and strobe from the tail and replaced them with clear sprue, and added clear sprue for the nav light (painted with Tamiya clear red/green) and added the antennas on the tail (stretched sprue).

Outstanding work, Fermis. Thank you!
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..
Re: 1/48 Italeri Cessna 172 complete
Thanks guys!
I took the build with me to the airport, the other day. The snowy background was too much, and the plane just became a silhouette in the pics...no good. The model sits in the display case at the airport now.....awaiting the opportunity for some decent picks with the airport backdrop...Texgunner style!
Thanks for passing the kit along. Half the fun was learning a little bit of the history of the Mithias Rust "incident". Interesting...and BALLSY!!!LyleW wrote:Outstanding work, Fermis. Thank you!

The red square landig has it historical significance. But that Croatian scheme is just so cool.
