I do like the mismatched colors due to the sub assemblies being painted at dispersed locations. That gives more visual interest to the camo scheme. Looking real good John!

Unless I'm painting white. The it takes me FOREVER as the white constantly draws any piece of lint, dust, or brown smudge within a five foot vicinity of the model!
John, It's been a thrill watching this come alive with the paint technique you are employing; your step-by-step explanations are extremely informative.

Thanks guys! I'm going to be taking a one-week break in a few days while I visit Hawaii so I'm not going to start the field-application of greens until I get back. Still, there are some things to work on until that point so here are a few things to report.
I've decided to add the white wing crosses and the black and white JG26 bands at this time. The wings are masks from the Silhouette Portrait and the bands were masked with a mix of Tamiya yellow tape and flexible white tape.
A bit of mottling was added to the tail fin.
I'm almost at that stopping point and I'm debating whether to add the fuselage crosses now or later. I'm planning on protecting all of the masked markings with the leftover mask shapes so that I can be more free when I apply the 82/83 greens over all of this. I will then, selectively, chooses spots to introduce some overspray.
Some close-ups of the painted surfaces. Since there is another coat of painting coming, it is not too late to do some last minute repair/fill work.

I finished off all of the pre-green markings. The Werk Numbers were sprayed on the tail fin using masks.
I decided to paint the fuselage crosses now. Using a scan of the Eagle Cal decal sheet, I traced the fuselage crosses together with the bar markings as was depicted on the decal sheet. This keeps the orientation between the elements uniform.
Due to very thin black borders, the yellow 10 and the black interior of the bar markings will be depicted using the Eagle Cal decals.
This will be a good point to pause the build. When I resume, I will use place masks over the markings, including the black/white fuselage band as I cover the aircraft with field applied greens (RLM 82 and 83).

I love the way this is turning out John. The mismatch of late war camo I find very interesting. Be safe on your trip John and have fun

Let your weapons slash and tear This is no place for fear
Hold the lines! Move as one! In unity our victory's won
Our shields will form a mighty wall
United we shall never fall

The hodge podge of different camouflage really states the confusion Germany was in at this stage of the war

These late war Dora's really did have everything in a paint bucket thrown at 'em. Lookin' really good here John. I'll add another "safe travels" wish your way and hope that you have a great time. I took my first vacation in probably 7 years last week and it felt great. Probably gonna take another one over the summer.

I’ve been quiet posting any comments with good reasons I’m just gobsmacked at the progress and work you’ve done on this beauty. No words can describe it. So much techniques and process for me to digest to try myself. You’re like the Leonardo da Vinci of building aircraft kits.

Thanks guys! I've always considered this the awkward stage of the build where the color choices look a certain way in your mind but maybe different in reality. I'll have to trust in the overall plan, which won't come to fruition for a few weeks as I'm leaving tomorrow for a short trip. As a final step before the pause, I've committed the Henri Daehne prop to glue.
