In the introduction, I mentioned Capt. Mantell - Here is his story. Besides the UFO incident, check out the C-47 he flew on D-day!

I remember that story from a UFO book I had as a kid, it had an excellent painting of the KANG F-51 chasing the UFO - thanks for sharing the link Lyle.

Thanks for following along. This unit is reallly quite diverse in what they do. Special people. . . as are all who serve or have served.

I have in house now the, P-51D (old Monogram), F-86A (Lindberg), C-130H (Testors), RF-101 (Monogram), (R)B-57B (Classic Airframes), AT-6 Texan (Revell), C-47 (Monogram). On the way are the RF-4 (Testors), F-84E (Revell) and I dithering on buying a C-130J (Italeri). I've put an offer in on that one.

I did finally work through the maze of options on the phone and was able to speak with a Msgt at the ANG base in the PA office. Very nice and even offered to go take some pictures of the 101 and f-4 that are on static display. Didn't sound like I would be granted access to do that in person. I've layed out what i would like to get from them as far as some photos, markings, etc. Turns out this guy served with my daughter-in-law who was a photographer in the unit. So, we'll see if he follows through. She said he was a good guy.

Lyle, sounds like you’re getting all those various types that you’re gonna need. Just a quick note though. The Monogram RF-101 is a B model, which was only made in a very small batch, and was only used by the Nevada ANG for a few years. KY ANG used the single seat versions of the RF-101.

Only found the “B” model. If another is out there.....

But, I have a couple of 101s in the stash. Maybe some parts swapping would work.
