Brilliant work on the Kingfisher! What a beautiful masterpiece! I started three 1/72 scale Seagulls and broke them every time when I tried to rig them. I am hoping to see yours completed!

Re: Kari's bench 2021 -->
So I have started with the Seagull, actually the work has going pretty smoothly.
I'm very impressed of the kit, so well engineerd, even if the tooling is from 1969, more than 50 years old. This particular revisionis from the early 70's.
The cockpit is really basic, but that does not matter so much, the plastic of the canopy is rather thick, difficult to see anything clearly through.
I scratched an instrument panel, perhaps more because of the fact, that it needs to have an IP than it would be visible
I added some weight in the main float
Glued the struts into the upper wing, slowly and carefully, making sure they are in the correct angle etc
And here are all the main parts, ready to go to the paintbooth
But to demonstrate the quality of this old Hasegawa kit and it's excellent fit ( the upper wing and main floats are not glued nor have I added any blu tac or masking tape to keep them together ). The fit is just amazing!
As said, next step the paint booth!

Much better than I would expect from such an early kit.

Yes, I always thoroughly enjoyed building mine, what a blast they were until the rigging step. Seeing this getting done may motivate me to bring out my two broken ones and try to repair and rig them again.

Re: Kari's bench 2021 -->
Time to attack the main float and especially the red propeller warning line, after the float was primed and painted a silverish metallic finish.
Always an exciting moment removing the masking, is there any leakage visible.. so far so good..
Success!
