Well, it’s that time of year again. Yup, time for the So. Cal. AMPS 12 Hour Online Build challenge. Build a model from start to finish during three four hour onlune Zoom sessions. This year had a bit of twist, the builder selects three options from their stash, and the rest of the participants vote as to which one of the three you get to build. Choose your three carefully.
This year I put up the Tamiya 1/35 Gama Goat, the Monogram 1/32 Panzer IV, and what won the vote, Italeri’s 1/35 Crusader III AA Mk.IIII.
so yesterday we built for four hours, and in that time I was able to complete steps 1 thru 7, which is pretty much the hull & suspension, and get partway thru Step 8, starting on the 20mm Oerlikon guns
next session in later April, I plan to get the build completed, and hopefully the primer coat on.

Got a lot done in 4 hours
March as one, Don't look back
Odin's sons... Attack!
Unleash hell! Do not repent! Warfare grants us no lament
Let your weapons slash and tear This is no place for fear
Hold the lines! Move as one! In unity our victory's won
Our shields will form a mighty wall
United we shall never fall

Thanks guys!
John, it is fun… modeling under a time and talking smack on anything and everything for four hours…keavdog wrote:Sounds like a fun event! Cool subject
Clint, I planned to get to this point and figured out where to shave off time on certain things (mold seam line clean up on parts that won’t be visible… I actually made it a bit farther than hoped for.Floki wrote:Got a lot done in 4 hours
It is indeed. I’ve been eyeballing this kit in my stash for awhile, and lucked out that this was what the other guys voted for.Gary Brantley wrote:Interesting little project!
Yeah at four hours, I was getting some hand cramps and sore rump from the extended seating times and hand usage…Tojo72 wrote:Now that's different,I would find it hard to a modeling session that long, looking forward to seeing it.
Having previously build a few of the Italeri Crusader standard gun tanks sure helped…Medicman71 wrote:Nice work for four hours!

Re: 1/35 Crusader AA Mk.III 12 Hour Build Challenge
Thanks Stuart. It’s kinda fun to do these timed builds.
Todays build session was cut to three hours, with the caveat to use the cut hour on your own (honor system) or add it to the next session. I’m gonna do the hour on my own separate from next session. Anyways today I completed all of the assembly, which was basic lyn the turret, the tracks, and all sorts of fussy little bits on the hull… Basic construction completed in seven hours!
so for my free floating hour I’ll sand those putty spots on the turret, and get the whole thing coated with some Ammo One Shot primer. That will leave my next four hour session free to do regular painting and markings.
