Looks great stik!
I was reading a bit about Zimmerit. The Germans created a magnetic anti-tank mine and were worried that the allies would copy it so the started coating their armor in Zimmerit which reduced the ability of a magnet to stick.

Last line of the article I read is kinda ironic:

Another reason for discontinuing the expensive and time consuming process was that in the end none of the Allied nations used magnetic anti-tank mines, so it was a wasted effort.

It's those Germans making work for modelers again :ballbat:
Thanks,
John

Yup, those tricky Germans!

Well, yesterday I got this gloss coated and today I applied the decals. They were not snuggling down into the zimmerit crevices with Micro Set and Micro Sol, so I had to hit them with a dose of Solvaset...

much better now... not much there, just tactical numbers, German crosses, and the divisional insignia...

To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

Man that thing looks good. It would be a shame to weather it up. They were new once and probably looks nice, for 5 minutes. Excellent work, Carlos.

Thanks Brandon! Yes it’s true that they were all new once, but by the time they get unit markings on over the camouflage paint, they have been delivered to the field and started to pick up the local environment.

I was getting all crosseyed about having to put zimmerit on my Panther G, but then I read that most didn't get it. Saved!

Lol! Yup, you are saved! The production of G’s started in summer 1944 and the use of zimmerit was discontinued in late September ‘44 at the end of summer, so only the early production batches got the stuff. If your G has the mantlet with the extra armor on the chin, it definitely won’t have the zimmerit.
