Yea.... I pulled a third kit to build between the LA Dart & the Sox and Martin GTX. Must be I'm in a Pro Stock mood.
The kit...
The basic engine block assembly assembled and painted.
Looking at various photos online, it appears the engine is sort of in black in color. I decided on painting it Grimy Black. The transmission is Tamiya lacquer Light Gunmetal.

Three, huh? Have fun. Neat subject

I may have this kit in the stash. Cool subject and am looking forward to seeing this one built up Tom.

Re: Bill Jenkins' Grumpy's Toy '72 Vega Pro Stock
Thanks for looking in. I've been studying and looking at various photos of the actually Grumpy's Toy Vega. A lot of builders simply go with the all white body; which is fine by me.
Me? I'm more attentive. Example... look at the box cover. See the red chin up front? I've already done that last night. The newer Grumpy's Toy Vega - 1974 model had it painted on the rear side too.
Now... look at the lower rocker areas...
Yup, they're black. Gonna do that tonight. My goal is build led it as shown on the box cover.
One note on this kit... it does give you 2 hoods. One solid hood as on box cover, the other with hole on hood along with 2 other hood scoop choices.

Re: Bill Jenkins' Grumpy's Toy '72 Vega Pro Stock
Nice detail work - I usually intend to pay attention and t hen something shiny runs by the windoe. This guy had guts to use a Vega. Having driven and ridden in a few...it was right up there with the Yugo (says the guy that had one of the exploding 1974 Pintos).

My time at the bench is done for the night. The Black on the lower rocker panels is done using a mixture of Tamiya Flat Black and NATO Black.

As expected, I found a slight fade of black. An easy fix.
The roll cage on the Vega is tiny compared to the roll cage for the Sox & Martin GTX

Thanks,

My mistake. The roll cage belonged to the LA Dart, not the GTX. I agree. The Vega roll cage looked too thin.
