Re: Phantom, airframe groups

I think you should start a build thread in this forum section. That way, I will know that I see a post in it as you go, and if we do enough of them, this section could end up serving as both a 1/1 guide section, with discussions of different companies models being built. I could then remember to pic...

Re: Am I missing something?

It was even before that one. We had about 8 shops, just in Long Beach,,,,,,,back in 1969. This doesn't include the Squadron Shop in the Lakewood Shopping Center. ( the buildings that later became Lakewood Mall, when they built a roof over all of the shops, after I had moved away ) One small hobby sh...

Re: Another Vintage Plane Crash

"just shut off" is the best way for that to be designed. It might take a bit of head scratching to figure out what to fix,,,,,,,but, that sure beats breaking a belt or chain and having the engine continue to turn until it winds down to a stop. A LOT of expensive parts get chewed up if that...

Re: Another Vintage Plane Crash

Lol, Medic. If that AT-6 was modified to have a Timing Belt, and the work was done by the same people that designed the Plymouth Horizon and Dodge Omni engine,,,,,,,,then right behind the cockpit seems to be just about where those "geniuses" would have put it. Rex, who once became quite pr...

Re: Am I missing something?

When I changed over,,,,,,I still had some of the Humbrol tins from when I first bought them. When they first hit the US market, you could only get them in boxes of 6 colors. Since I bought them in 1969-1972, and they couldn't be bought in Wisconsin when we moved back there,,,,,the tins remaining hav...

Re: Am I missing something?

Even though I have had to become an Acrylic user,,,,,,,,I would go back to Model Master, Humbrol, XtraColor, and Colour Coats enamels in a heart beat. I don't have a choice anymore,,,,,,,,but, I sure miss those 4 paints, especially the Humbrol "old style" formula,,,,,,,,that paint changed ...

Re: IPMS Region 12 Show-Inman SC

It would be great to meet you in Chattanooga.

If you get looking for someplace to go, the Winter show is still going to happen as before, also.

Re: Phantom, airframe groups

Medicman, if you want to, go ahead and start another thread and I will dig up what I can for you. I will need the type (F-4J, duh), the BuNo, the tail modex letters and the nose modex numbers, the squadron and carrier (if that applies), and the decal sheet name and number. Then I can find the refere...

Re: TwoBobs decals

I am a big fan of Kursad's stuff over at Caracal.

Since he ships free to the the US, I don't have to wait until I have a bunch of sheets that I want,,,,I just order them whenever he releases them,,,or in batches of two sheets when I find I want some.

Re: TwoBobs decals

they are printed by Microscale (see first sheet in 1/32 section of his website)

I had no problem at all with the 1/72 EF-4C sheet that I used.

But, since they are Microscale and I use the complete Microscale system,,,,,I didn't expect any problems, either.
