Re: 1/72 Academy P-40B AVG

It worked out quite well as a test bed and it doesn't look bad lol. I had no real troubles with the decals except for the tail stripe which is too long and straight as an arrow. I had to trim it and massage it into place, but with careful applications of Tamiya LC it conformed. The LC helped ensure ...

Re: 1/72 Academy P-40B AVG

I've got an Iwata Neo and I'm using about 15~25 PSI depending on my paint mix. New compressor, new learning curve lol.

Re: 1/72 Academy P-40B AVG

Thank you, Borg. Winter wiper fluid... that's an interesting choice. :hmm: I have the Vallejo fluid for that and it works if I use just the right amount. I'm still figuring out my air pressure settings and that has a lot to do with it as well. I'm Stil at the stage where I'm either too little or too...

1/72 Academy P-40B AVG

I've been playing with this build here and there, mostly to try out my new compressor. The upgraded compressor has made spraying a lot easier but new problems have developed that I didn't have to worry about before, such as tip dry. But I'm working out the bugs as I go because I've read more than a ...

Re: 1/48 Airfix Bf-109F

Well congratulations on holding your own against the new kits! 3rd place is nothing to laugh at. I'm still waiting for the results of the GB on Genessis. I'm hoping for the Top Gun trophy, but I'll be ecstatic if I place at all! The prizes are worth all of the effort I put into my P-40. Even 3rd pla...

Re: 1/48 Airfix P-40B

oh yeah. Academy's decals are hard to work with alright. They take a lot of patience and a swipe of LC here and there before they'll behave. I've built a couple of them in the last two years.

Re: 1/48 Airfix Bf-109F

Thanks Mike! Not bad for a project that I am rushing to finish. I know what you mean. I've got the old monogram F4U-4 Corsair on the bench and I'm not even bothering to put any extra effort into it. The kit is just so tired I'm having enough trouble just assembling it lol. I'm going to settle for c...

Re: What Do We Build ...and Why?

Oh man. What a topic. I would say I'm mostly an armor guy. My dad was an Army tanker so armor builds have been a part of my life since I was born. Lately I've been on more of a nostalgic kick with building aircraft. How do I choose my subjects? Is it on a shelf for sale? Do I like the subject? Do I ...
