Re: Tamiya's 1/48 F4U-1D Corsair
Well since the forum was down for several days and I couldn't post we can go straight to the end result, lol. I wanted to give the hairspray chipping method a try. I tested it out on a junk F/A-18 I had laying around, and was impressed with how well it works, and looks. Even with enamel paint. I did...

Tamiya's 1/48 F4U-1D Corsair
Started it last week. There have been several times I contemplated building this kit, only to put it back in the stash because I didn't fancy the paint scheme. All one shade of blue. For some reason any model I looked at, just looked like a toy. Not the real thing. Then I realized the -1A had the tr...

Re: Italeri's/Accurate Miniatures TBF/TBM Avenger
Thanks guys! Couldn't get on for a few days there, which was very annoying. Something about bandwidth or whatever. Never seen that before.

Re: Italeri's/Accurate Miniatures TBF/TBM Avenger
Well the time on it is thanks in part to the kit for going together well. Parts were a bit fiddly, and the instructions really lacked in some areas, but there was no fit issues to really speak of. Barely any putty, sand, prime, repeat. So that sped the process up. I managed to screw up last night. I...

Re: AMT's 1/48 ES-3A Shadow
The wing fold option on any Navy/Marine aircraft is cool. But they definitely look better spread out Hubby did think the Hawkeye I did looked funny with the wings folded, but it's a nice option to have. Only other kit I've done that had the option was the F/A-18. Which it's really not much to fold ...

Re: Italeri's/Accurate Miniatures TBF/TBM Avenger
Avenger looks great. Poor Corsair in the background  :giggles: The good old paint mule. Although I think it's time to pitch that thing. It's gotten way too many layers of paint on it. Thanks guys! The right airbrush for the job works wonders! Got to decals today. Most of which are done, as...

Re: Italeri's/Accurate Miniatures TBF/TBM Avenger
Thanks guys! So I made kind of a bone head move. I printed out the Accurate Miniatures instructions, and have been following them. They tell you to drill holes in the wings for the rockets. Which I did. Not realizing the Italeri kit did not come with said rockets. :headslap: I dig around in my spare...

Re: Italeri's/Accurate Miniatures TBF/TBM Avenger
Thanks guys! It took a bit longer than I expected, probably a couple hours each wing, but by the time I got to the 2nd wing I was having fun doing it, which was the whole point, lol.

Re: AMT's 1/48 ES-3A Shadow
Thanks, the wing folds would be a nice option if you have limited display space, it has a fairly large wingspan despite it's stubby fuselage, lol.
