Same around here in Indiana ammo is hard to come by but .22lr is starting to show up more and around $4-5 for a 50 round box. I use to buy 500 round boxes for $20 but that's been a long time now. For 5.56 I use to buy tula $120 for a 500 round spam can. 8mm a local guy would sell for .30 a round. 7.62x54R for the PSL was $100 a spam can good luck touching that for less than $200

I have a small collection of militaria, my friend and I go to a local show each year. Just a small inventory of my collecting over the years off the top of my head:

-A GI helmet and liner from WW2
-A Major's helmet and liner with markings and provenance (nobody famous, but I keep meaning to dig into his story)
-A Serbian surplus helmet
-A Prussian WW1 field cap
-3 German daggers, Hitler Youth, SA, and Luftwaffe
-2 Mosin Nagants, 1 a hex and the other a round receiver
-A Mauser .32 pistol
-and my personal favorite to use, a surplus Garand

I was hemming and hawing over a Japanese pith helmet, an IJN helmet, and an Afrika Korps pith at the last show in August but passed on them. Still a little gun shy on superfluous several hundred dollar purchases after being out of work for a few months earlier this year. Hopefully next year!

That’s a nice collection, Glamdring.
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

Yeah, it's been a fun time accumulating it all over the years. I look at it all as a form of investment that is much more interesting to look at than the numbers on a website.
