SPA Modeler Member Interviews.

Post by speedgraflex »

Image

I had an idea that we could add content to our forum’s Facebook Page by publishing interviews with our members. I reached out to Thomas for permission. He gave me the green light as the saying goes. I am not a fan of mass lists and our forum and hobby is not about mass production so I handbuilt a list of members and sent each one 10 questions about themselves in relation to the hobby. Since some members do not have Facebook and it is tough to dig through the layers to get to Facebook I will publish the same interviews here. The interviews belong here at any rate.

Thanks to all participating, and if you did not receive a questionnaire and would like one please do write me a PM. I would love to have more interviews!

You know, that is Carlos playing the accordion....He is secretly in a Polka band.
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

Scale Plastic Aircraft Modeler Member Interview

Mostrich

Hamburg, Germany

Mostrich joined SPA Modeler on April 6, 2014.

Congratulations on five years of membership! What do I know about this member? Enough to know he is curious, and impervious even to Eduard’s difficult-to-fit cowlings. He is a virtuoso when it comes to model building.

On the origin of his forum name, he writes: "Mostrich is an old German word for mustard. In German, we have a saying which translates, 'He gives his mustard to everything,' meaning you are someone who shoots out comments to everything said or done.'"

Read on to find out more!

Have a seat, sir. Welcome to the studio. Try not to look directly into the bright lights. That’s it. There! Are you comfortable? Here we go.

1. First model kit?

Hard to tell. But the first model I ever bought with my own money was a T-34 from Tamiya. My parents were not pleased that much if I remember correctly.

2. Preferred scale?

1/48. It’s simply a nice middle-size scale.

3. Preferred subject or subjects?

Single and twin props from between the wars until 1950. When it comes to the Cold War I love everything Russian, no matter if it has wings, tracks or wheels.

4. Favorite model built to date?

No clear winner whom I’d give that award. But the engineering of Tamiya’s Panigale 1199 was mind blowing and it’s my quickest finished model yet.

5. Hardest model built to date?

Eduard’s Bf 110C fought me all the way to the painting stage. Where it’s at since 2012, lol.

6. Holy Grail kit?

The 2019 MotoGP bike from KTM in 1/12.

7. Favorite kit maker?

Tamiya.

8. Favorite glue or glues?

Tamiya Extra Thin for 98% of the styrene work. Gator Glue for small PE stuff.

9. Favorite paint?

MRP.

10. What started you as a modeler?

As a kid, it was multiple things—the box art in the toy store, the fantasy of having one of those cool machines in my room etc. When I came back as an adult, I learned that modeling was a welcomed cooler for my stress troubled mind.

This is a great idea Bruce, thanks for doing this.
March as one, Don't look back
Odin's sons... Attack!
Unleash hell! Do not repent! Warfare grants us no lament
Let your weapons slash and tear This is no place for fear
Hold the lines! Move as one! In unity our victory's won
Our shields will form a mighty wall
United we shall never fall
