What have you NOT built- ever?

Yeah…but the Horten falls outside of the basic premise here… it’s a one off type… Luftwaffe ‘46 stuff. The basic theory is a mass production mainstream aircraft. Something that saw widespread use and for whatever reason, members here have never built one of the type.

Like a 66 corvette coupe.
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

I can expand my not built ever genre to Biplanes in general. I do have a swordfish in the stash, but pretty booked this year for grorup builds. :hmm:

Well, I'm so very late in finding this Thread, I'm feeling so left out not getting any notifications! Anyway, now that I found this, here's my list of models I have never ever built. It is probably a short list compared to many here, but I will probably remember others later on. Oh, and haven't listed helicopters as I've built probably 98% of that is offered in my scale...some multiple times.

Here's my list: NOTE: I'll only build all these in 1/72 scale:

I'd say the majority of WWI biplanes offered now.

British:

Short Stirling- possibly in the stash...ancient Airfix if it is.
Sunderland
Beaufort
Beaufighter
Walrus
Bolton Paul Defiant
Buccaneer- just got one from Sean for my birthday.

US:

A-6 Intruder- in the stash
E-2C Hawkeye - started but never finished. Was gonna make it Israeli because it wasn't going well and I wanted the US Navy bird to look better.
F-94- in the stash
F-107- another nasty looking bird and not really an in service jet.
Several flying boats types like the Mariner
Privateer- started but not finished.
C-123 Provider- got two in the stash I think...
F-35- started but not finished.
EC-121 (military Connie)- in the stash
Civilian Connie- possibly in the stash
DC-9- in the stash. Ancient Aurora kit that I was intending to start soon.

C-5A and C-141 for obvious reasons

German:

Can't think of any mainstream ones I have not built.

French:

Dragon Rapide-> such an ugly plane! Don't think I'll do one.

Russian:

Tu-160 Blackjjack
Tu-142 Bear- both of these are in the stash. Both HUGE birds too!
Pe-8 bomber- another huge plane.
In the stash.

Japanese:

Kate
Val- this one has been started though.

Otherwise I think I built them all.

As for a start date: I'm thinking September for the few of us that are going to the Nationals. That way we might even have new kits, and for sure have the mojo to get building!

Just my two cents...

We are modelers - the same in spirit, in hunger to insanely buy newly released kits, hustlers in hiding our stash from our better halves and experts in using garbage as replacements for after-market parts.

Mark, that’s a great list! I’m with you on many of the same types. And also, “haven’t built one yet, but it’s in the stash”

Here’s to building all of those gap fillers one day!

Indeed, great list Mark!

A quick comment before Stuart does it.. Dragon Rapide is a British design (De Havilland DH-89)

But must say, when I saw it "live" (as a matter in a museum in France!), I started to like the shape of it !

LOL!!!! It's not a bad looking plane I agree, but it's not my favourite 1920/30's De Haviland. If we're talking 'never built a' I could write a loooong list of General Aviation/Light Aircraft types that I would love to build but aren't kitted. I really wish someone would put out a decent range of 1/48 Light Aircraft, and not just the same old bloody short winged PA-28s and Cessna 152/172's. There are so many interesting type that could be done - with loads of weathering potential. You want a beat up aircraft to weather, try anything used by a parachute drop school - some of the Cessna 206's I used to work on were horrendous - as are most flying club aircraft. Hell Ammo/Mig could do a 'bug splatter' range!

Mark, I'll take the Raptide off your hands if you're not going to do it. What scale is it? What brand?

Im with you Mark, just found this thread.
Wow, barring any individual aircraft I've never built any modern or WW I bombers.

Although I'm way over booked with GB's at the moment and I need to trim those down next year.

:wow: Shame on you Stuart! :nono:
Building a kit from your stash is like cutting the head off a Hydra, two more take it’s place.

Well those do fly… down the hiway… :ballbat:

Ya know, I’ve never built any Italian aircraft in any scale of any era… :hmm:

So let’s say to kick this off next month, mid month or so…
