Camera recommendations

Post by LyleW »

Please....

My D5000 fell off the desk this morning. The 18-55mm VR DX lense did come off. Not in pieces, but something broke. It won’t lock into place. This camera is 10-12 years old, I believe. Maybe older.

Thinking a mid range poin&shoot... Nikon or Canon.

Im a big fan of canon.
However my only experience is with DSLR's
In this day and age if i was to recomend a point and shoot i would recomend a good cell phone. The cameras on them are often higher quality than you can get in most point and shoots and they have a lot of functionality in them
Oppo or samsung A series are good choices.

Yup. I get much better macro shots with my iPhone than i ever did with my DSLR. I suppose that I could have bought a macro lens for it, but once I got a handle on the photo app and editing with my phone, with a good bit of advice from Bruce, I’ve been quite happy with the results.

I was senT a new phone by the carrier. Not the best by any stretch. I’ll see how it does.

Agree with Carlos, I have also an iPhone and have stopped using my DSLR or pocket camera totally, practically for anything.

Well it seems to be leaning, barely, towards phone cameras. I’ll have to check it out on my phone. I hate those damn things.

Okay, this phone is already 4-5 years old. It is an iPhone XR. Camera seems to be a 12 mp. Guess we will see.

But the XR is still a very good one! I have still my old XR that I use privately (my other iPhone is "12" and is my workphone, that superb picture quality as well)

The picture below is taken a moment ago with my XR, I would say ok quality ?
