Time to Watch Gettysburg

Post by Tojo72 »

Rain today,do it is a good day to enjoy one of my favorite movies the directors cut of Gettysburg, usually find time around this weekend.

Great characters, love Berenguer as Longstreet,And Sam Elliott as Buford, and Jeff Daniels as Chamberlain still hard to believe the same guy did Dumb and Dumber, then did Washington in The Crossing.

Agreed about the movie choice for today. I always like to watch it at this time of year as well. Great movie!

Been there years ago. Have not seen the movie.

I’ve been wanting to go to Gettysburg for years since PA is an easy drive from NYS. I read not too long ago, a couple sites at Gettysburg are closed for an extended time to fix erosion issues. But hey... Oriskany Battlefield isn’t too far from my home either. Haven’t been there in years. They say it’s haunted there.

Next year's AMPS Nationals is at nearby Camp Hill ..ought to be cool. Seen the movie a few times here and went camping there with the Boy Scouts a few years back.

If you haven't seen this documentary, produced by Ridley and Tony Scott, and narrated by Sam Rockwell, then you would probably really enjoy this look at the battle. I showed it to a few 8th grade classes when teaching and most of the kids liked it too.

Sweet! I've never been to Gettysburg myself; I would so love to go. I've never seen the movie either. Man, I really am deprived! :headslap: :giggles:

Been awhile since I went to Gettysburg, 1994,we liked it did Little Round Top,The Angle with the copse of trees, was able to approach the stone wall pretty much the way the troops were. All the shops in the town were pretty cool, although things have probably changed a bit.

Have passed by Antietam quite a number of times, anybody stop there?
