Re: 1/48 EA-6B Prowler
Thanks guys! Yeah it's the same wings but different fuselage. That's why there's all these corrections to the wings.Texgunner wrote:I agree, the work you're doing looks really fine. Mike, is the Monogram model the same as the Revell A-6? Like this one: http://www.spamodeler.com/forum/viewtop ... =21&t=2661
I'm looking forward to seeing our final result, gonna be cool man!

Thanks Mike. I had been curious about that considering the cross-pollination between Revell and Monogram. Thought those wings looked familiar.

Re: 1/48 EA-6B Prowler
That’s what is funny, when the two companies merged in the late 80s, Revell left Venice CA and the new HQ was the old Monogram HQ in IL. All the new molds post merger, such as the A-6 family, etc. showed the hallmarks of the Monogram mold makers, not Revell. Supposedly they kept the Revell brand name due to the better world wide recognition.

It's such a shame that Monogram didn't survive as an independent company, they made some very nice stuff back in the day - I'd love to have seen the quality of kits they would have made now.

Stuart, their last kits were gorgeous… the 1/48 PBY, HE-111, Ju-52, F-84E/G, F-15E, and Stearman PT-17 all were as good as anything coming out from anything out of the Far East. Their 1/32 Hawker Hunter is probably one of the best aircraft models that I’ve ever built….

Isn't Revell's F-15E the Monogram molds?

Well, it was made by the Monogram folks under the new Revell label.

And it's still one of the best Strike Eagles in 1/48. Even the newer ones like the GWH aren't as accurate as the Revell one.

I finished rescribing the lower wings. The drop tanks are assembled. They had a lot of flash and will need a lot of work.
