MPM 1/72 Northrop XP-56

Post by BorgR3mc0 »

I am on a small vacation in Zealand (old Zealand, the Dutch province) and toke a little project with to work on. It is the MPM 1/72 Northrop XP-56. I think it is a lovely aircraft, a great shape. The kit is quite nice but a bit simple on surface details (i.e. the exhausts and panel lines). As always I started on the cockpit. The canopy is small and framed so I did not do much work on it, only tape seatbelts.

i had to Google a little bit what a Northrop XP-56 is. But should have guessed it of course, already made by MPM! If someone on SPAM builds those out of the ordinary kits, it's our Borg!

Very nice work so far, happy holidays to Zeeland!
(where there are you, on the "Belgium" side or on the islands ?)

Neat project!
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

I had to look that one up as well. The Black Bullet - funky little dude.
Thanks,

This will be interesting. The real one rolled up in a ball in one of its test flights.

It is definitely a lesser know aircraft. But I like those! :lashed:

The wings are on but before closing the fuselage I added some weight in the nose. The fit of the fuselage was good but the wings not so good. That will need some putty. And because it is a butt joint it is not so strong. All typical of those old MPM kits.

Now there’s an unusual aircraft.

What a weird looking aircraft. Nice work so far!
