BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRT!!!!

Post by BlackSheep214 »

No box art pics but I decided and promised my son I’d build one of the model kits he got me for Christmas in 2020 - the 1/48 scale Revell A-10 Warthog kit.
Spent a couple hours on the bench assembling drop tank, AGM 65 Mavericks (6), ALQ-119 ECM Jamming Pod, CBU-52 Cluster bombs (8), BLU-27 Napalm Container (2), tail rudder, cockpit, partial assembly of rear engine.

I have a funny feeling the molded in pitot tube the right wing tip is eventually going to break off during assembly. I’ll never understand why Revell would do this. I know Sprue Brothers has brass pitot tubes and may have to order it later.

That is my favorite thing...breaking off parts!
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

Oh ya gotta love an A-10! As far as the pitot goes, you can always cut it off yourself, drill a hole where it was, then put it back on at the end of the project.

I decided to do just that. Stored it in one of several old empty plastic prescription bottles. That will stay in the kit box until ready to install in wing tip.

Not sure they will be much help but the first few photos are from the A10 at Wright Patterson.

Those are some great pics! Oddly enough I really liked the Flakvierling quad 20 and the 88. Never seen one in person.
Thanks,
John
