Oh yeah, I wanted the Tamiya F-14 Tomcat kit too.
I paid $50 for this at the last IPMS show I went to earlier this year. I haven't priced the F-14
The P-38 is still a bit pricey. I paid $73 including shipping, so probably around 50-something.
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

I was ready to comment on your cockpit, and it is great.

Then I saw your landing gear bays. Holy cow those look awesome. Like alum or metal, not the least bit like painted plastic.

Very cool the Tamiya engineering to avoid all ejection pin marks.

Thank you so much Greg. The gear bays are painted Alclad I I Aluminum over a base coat of Tamiya Semi-Gloss black

Clint this looks awesome. I've got a couple of the Hasegawa kits but would love one of these

You're welcome.

I was curious, thanks for letting me know what you used. Hard to beat good ol' Alclad.

You are right! I've tried others the last one I test out was AK Xtreme. Nowhere as good as Alclad IMO

I have been experimenting with, of all things, Vallejo Metal Colors. I like them so much I bought pretty much the full set.

They dry extremely fast and are surprisingly durable. (just tossing this out there, not saying they are better then Alclad). One plus is that they can be brushed on with surprising results.

I second that about the Vallejo metallics. They are an awesome set of paints. I want to pick up more.

I've been looking for a good brush metallic paint so I will look into them. Thank you for the info
