Elvis Tank, Dragon M48A1

Post by Stikpusher »

Well here I go again… another Patton tank… but not any Patton, but the mount of “The King”

Image

I’m going to make Elvis’ M48A1 from GI Blues, turning this kit

into this

Image

So far I’ve completed steps 1 & 2 and built the road wheels and basic lower hull

Stay tuned for more progress updates….

Thank you very much ;)

Steps 3 & 4 now completed - bits added to upper hull, the upper and lower hulls glued together

That’s enough for today….

That is so cool! My mother met the King during his service in Germany back in '59. She told me that she was annoyed by all the screaming and shouting girls around her. "He wasn't THAT pretty, you know...".

I hope you're wearing your blue suede shoes whilst you're building this Carlos!

Great start!

Very awesome Carlos! This is gonna rock! I didn't know the King drove a tank.

Hmmmm.... I wonder of this would be possible to so in 1/72 scale.... :hmm:

Getting an Elvis figure in that scale would be well nigh impossible though...

I have to check my tanker heads, and see if I have one that generally resembles ole Elvis. If I do, I think I have a suitable figure to place the head upon. 50’s/60’s/70’s Cold War tank crew figures are few and far between. First thing though is to get this beast built….

Lol! Did she happen to see the Beatles a few years later?

Sure it’s possible… if there is a 1/72 M48A1 kit…. I looked on Scalemates and there are some car scale Elvis figures… which does both of us absolutely no good… :headslap:

And yes, he was with 1/32 Armor, 3rd Armored Division in Germany
