Such good lines!
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

I know, right? :lashed: I never understood myself why I never did a ‘49 Mercury in my younger years. I guess back then, I just didn’t have an interest in building one. Now, I’m just so glad I was able to pick one up on a trade. It is a beautiful automobile.

Which reminds me, I need get myself a ‘40 or ‘41 Willys kit. Gotta help the economy somehow...

The hood...

Pictures don't do justice under lamp light. Here she is in all her glory in bright sunlight. You can see all that lovely pearlcoat in the blue. Yeah, she's gonna be a looker in that Deja Blue lacquer color. Leaving her outdoors for a couple hours to dry and cure.....

Next, some Wet Look lacquer clearcoat..

That's a beautiful shade of blue.

That's pretty. Having it outside shold be fine, I wouldn't leave a model in a car or something like that. Ask me how I know......

Not much of updates but definitely a change to the engine parts...

First. I installed the engine and noticed the driveshaft is too short - 3/16th of an inch short in fact. :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

So, I cannibalized a stock driveshaft from the '37 Chevy kit, glued it to the tranny, snipped off a little over 3/16th and installed to chassis frame. From underneath you won't see the cut. (You can see the cut and fix in the pic below...)

Underside chassis done...

Now the big change on the engine. I decided to remove the original exhaust headers I started with and am going with these bad boys instead. I wasn't crazy with the custom ones that came with the Mercury kit. These came from the '55 Chevy Bel Air kit. Already test fitted them and oh yeah... they're gonna work! :dancing: :dancing: :dancing:

That color does look good on there Tom. Should wet sand and polish out very nicely. :shoutout: :shoutout:
Good job on that driveshaft as well.
