My hat most certainly goes off to you for such a good finish on this Clint. Figure painting to me is considered the height of model building and you pulled this off very well indeed. :shoutout: :shoutout: :shoutout: :shoutout:

Your improvement is clear. Joe's statement of figure painting being a higher form of building is not without its merits. Since I have a very large dog in that fight I'll leave it to others to say what is and isn't. I know that my own struggles to become a better painter were moved along rapidly by painting mini's. I learned proper dilution of paint for different surfaces and effects. My watching of 100's of hours of Youtube videos by Golden Demon winners and all around great painters helped my journey,. I also completely immersed myself into it. I was growing tired of fabricating fuel systems and shiny paint jobs and needed a breath of fresh air. Painting mini's cured that ache and provided an opportunity to grow as a builder and painter. Building is not a large part of mini's since it is all about the paint. The range of characters also appealed to me a great deal. I found the near endless supply on eBay a great start. Now that 3D printing is so big I'll be getting an Elgoo or other higher end printer and try my hand at that.

Looking forward eagerly to see your Geralt book nook finished and in place on you shelf. it's going to be pretty epic.
Now that we know that.... What have we learned?...

Thank you all so much. The biggest game changer for me has been the wet pallet and very thin paint. I hope to keep improving on figure painting and am welcome to all input and suggestions.

The wet pallet is KEY. No doubt about it. Since acrylic paints dry so quickly it give you so much more working time. And if you wish to stop you can simply put the top on and continue later. It also aids in blending. I like blending a lot and fades and and blends are only possible with a wet pallet.

You are well on your way.
