IMC 1/32 Bell Jet Ranger - lylew

Post by LyleW »

Well, at least they included the empty sprues.....

Must be a vintage kit, too. The nstructions are printed on parchment1 :giggles:

As are the decals.

Then there is the plethora of loose parts. I have no idea if they are all present or not.

and, as advertised on the box - even has chrome parts. Guess I'll get to try the brake fluid removal method.

Chrome removal tip:

Try bleach. Worked in five minutes on 1964 chromed plastic, Lyle. Easy peasy and no harsh chemical spills to clean up at all.

Get the decals a good brush coat with MicroScale´s Liquid Decal Film to prevent those oldies from cracking when in the water. You also could try the old trick to pin the decals to a window (inside!) that gets lots of sunlight. Maybe they will improve their clarity.

I have never, repeat, never had good results with that stuff. Ever. Nada, Zip. No matter how many coats I brush on, They still crack. I may be able to print some, though.

Clean as a whistle, Lyle! Absolutely perfect! I found this link—a good source of decal restoration ideas—but there are new Army helicopter decals available in 1/35. Maybe take a look at some of the newer tools of this particular kit for a builder type too?

Some more good stuff, Bruce! I can scan the decals, replace the yellow color with white and try that. First, I'll scan them - learned that lesson early.

Me, too! The kit has actually made it downstairs, so that is a start.
