I might be in for this, I have a Folland Gnat in Hotshots markings. So I think that fits the bill.

Heya Borg!! It was in a movie so that makes it "in". Lemme know what the verdict is and I'll get you on the build roster.

Ahhhhh.... Now I understand the Corvette.

I'm looking forward to seeing this one being built Joe - interesting that you're not using the full DofH kit.

Well.....the ol' MPC kit just aint that great of a kit. The Revell Pro Modeler kit on the other hand......is a terrific representation of a Charger. Helluva kit.

So not knowing very much about US cars, and even less about car kits - what type of Corvette is this, and does anyone make a kit of it?

Chevy Corvette. Probably early 1990's.

I'm going with this.

I've got plenty of time to place the order on this kit.

This is a 1984 C4 Corvette and has a Crossfire 350 engine in it.
Here's a link with a few more shots of it and some background:

There are kits available for it. There's a Monogram 1/24 scale Snap Tite kit:

and MPC makes several releases of it in 1/25 scale. Here is one of them:

and another one:
