The first D&RG boxcars, built in 1872 according to a Billmeyer & Small pattern, were 10 short and light (12ft long and with a capacity of 10 tons) 4-wheel cars. This Denver & Rio Grande 1872 flat car and gondola are built from wood and resin. Both feature free-rolling On30 wheel sets, full underbody detail including brakes - and link and pin couplers. The flat car includes a load of cut timber with chains which is removable. I think I should explain that these are wooden models built plank by plank using stained pieces of laser cut wood. They are built pretty much the same way the originals were made.

These are part of a traveling display for Silver City Models.

Nice! I have a diorama idea for a German flatbed with 109. Good to know On30 is 1/48!

Brilliant! I know Sabre Models makes a killer Flachwagen, but it’s in 1/35.

FYI: O Scale in the UK is commonly 1:43.5 or 7 mm to the foot, in continental Europe it is commonly 1:45 though 1:43.5 is also used particularly in France, and in the USA 1:48.

Let me know if you need any help or resources.
