Great interviews. Norman you have quite the diversity. Stuart I feel the same way about 1/72 scale. I probably build more 48th then you but always seem to gravitate back to 72nd

John - Why Albanian? I found a really little good decal sheet that sparked it off - I really like old early Migs and the Albanian sheet had them all. I also work with a few Albanians so...

Great interview Stuart! I am also an Air Force brat that grew up around aircraft all the time. I miss those days of traveling through the base alongside the flightline and seeing all the aircraft all lined up. That's why I love aircraft. As for the scale, I've always loved 1/72 scale. I love the consistency seeing all the planes have and their relative sizes and such. The fact that my armor is also in 1/72 scale makes it that much more enjoyable maintaining the same scale!

Looking forward to seeing more projects coming from your bench!

Eagle-1 (Rob) Interview

frustrated to the point of quitting the forum entirely. It’s a bad sign when a member cannot access the forum.

Anyway would you be able to contact him and take over duties and help me straighten out a new password?

Here is his interview, photos will need to be added. I will send those to you by email.

1. First model kit?

--First model for me was a Highway Pioneers or similar type Model T Touring in 1/32 scale that my Grandmaw gave me for my birthday when I was about 6 in about 1970. I still have it stored away.

2. Preferred subject or subjects?

--Science Fiction if I have one and this is a tough question for me. I say that because I do like several other things, but Sci-Fi is my favorite. Space:1999, Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica and UFO are amoung those and Gerry Anderson has always provided something to work on. As may have been noticed, I'm more interested in subjects from memories with a little age on it.

3. Preferred scale?

--Studio scale is my favorite, but as I said in the 'subject' question, I like many different subjects and several different scales if I build something in kit form. I like drag racing and may build something in that theme from time to time and pro-street style cars. I have a problem sticking to the instructions even when building a box kit.

4. Favorite model built to date?

--A Batmobile. My daughter specifically picked it out in the model aisle and ask me if I would make it for her. She was about 4, so there was nothing that could have stopped me from making that one. It was the comic book version, not the TV version.

5. Hardest model built to date?

--Any of the several WARP Eagles I've built several years ago when they came out. They were made of white metal and GRP resin. I soldered all the white metal, so it was a little tough. Same with the AB Models 22" Eagles sold through Comet Miniatures many years ago. Same white metal framework, all soldered together and here's where many different techniques and adhesives were heavily used.

6. Holy Grail kit?

--I can't say I have a holy grail kit, but I sure should have picked up a Salzo X-Wing.

7. Favorite kit maker?

--Well, with kit makers, I really don't have a favorite. Bandai and Tamiya are choices if the subject is available simply for how well they go together.

8. Favorite glue or glues?

--I personally prefer TAMIYA Extra Thin Cement for styrene and for CA, I use "The Original Superglue". For me, it beats all the other CA's.

9. Favorite paint?

--That's another hard question because, like most folks, I use many different types. From cans for large coverage to bottles for hand painting and air brushing, I use whatever I find that goes on the best for a given subject. Paint is subjective and each paint needs to vary given what you're painting.

10. How did you get started as a modeler?

--I can't really claim to be a modeler. I do it strictly as a hobby and for the enjoyment, only when I have the extra time. To me, a "modeler" does this for a living and if you don't, it's a hobby. That's me.
