Has anyone but Classic Airframes ever done the fabric wing Hurricane in 1/48?

Thanks for the info Stuart. I know that Airfix backdated one of their 1/48 Spitfires to an early Mk.I with the flatter canopy hood and the two blades wooden prop. I was hoping that perhaps they had done a backdate of their new tool 1/48 Hurricane as well.

I'm afraid not Carlos - just their 1/72.

Man that's an old kit!

I don’t know if I have posted this on here before, but if I did, the thread is way buried and not easily found. It’s the old early 80’s 1/48 Hasegawa A6M5 Zero. Anyways, I started this one, barely, several years back, then sidelined it for some unknown reason. In the summer I pulled it out and resumed work, primarily in the cockpit. Anyways, seeing how this is a simple kit and that the end of the year is approaching, I decided that I wanted to try and get it finished by the end of the year, so after all the hustle and bustle of the Thanksgiving weekend was over, I got back to work on it.

Yesterday I finished up the cockpit

Then I assembled it into the fuselage

Today so far I did seam clean up on the fuselage, then added the wings

Then I added the horizontal stabilizers

and test fitted the engine and cowling

So far, so good… I love these old kits that take shape practically overnight.

Looks great, Carlos. Yeah... Those old kits pratically pur themselves together on its own.
Just like the P-38 Lightning kit I've been working on. It probably won't be done by the end of the year unless I managed to score on insignia decals quick.

Thanks Tom. The old kits are good enough for me. I don’t get bogged down in too many sub assemblies, and the level of included detail is mare than adequate.

I'm at the time of my life where I want to finish as much of my stash as I can. I add extra on one or two kits a year but most of mine are pretty much out of the box

Domo Arigato Kari-san. Other than drilling out the lightening holes in the seat, and adding some PE seatbelts, the cockpit is OOB.

I'm right there with you. I've been building OOB almost all my modeling life, mostly for that reason.

Great to see another Zero being built, and very apt considering the date - what scheme are you planning Carlos?
