Well I didn't place at all but I'm ok with it. When you walk in to the contest room, it will humble you very quickly.

Maybe, but, you were there and in the competiton. Way to go.
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

It takes courage to show up and enter. Like you said, it's humbling just to see what the other folks bring to enter. The best of the best.
