Warriors 1/35 German Grenadier

Post by Stikpusher »

I saw this guy on clearnace at Squadron and had to get him. He sure bears a striking resemblence to Corporal Kruger in the 1977 Sam Peckinpah film, Cross of Iron, played by actor Klaus Lowitsch. I did add the PPSH sub gun to him from my spares bin.

Thanks. I think that I used both enamels and acrylics for the base colors. I wanted to convey the really filthy appearance of Cpl. Kruger, in the movie so I used various earth tone washes, Raw Umber and Raw Sienna on the uniform, Burnt Sienna & Burnt Umber on the skin areas, I even used some Flory's/Promodeler dark mud wash on the uniform and Tamiya Weathering Compact "mud" on the pants and boots and some of their "dirt" on the flesh areas.

Pretty neat, big guy. These figures always look to have a distorted, Andre the Giant sort of face to me. This guy does seem to look like your inspiration, though.
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

Thank you guys. Figures, especially faces, are my biggest challenge in models currently. One day I will get them down right... :|
