Acrylic on enamel

Post by Kobus »

Hi everyone,

I'm new to scale modelling, so this might be a stupid question.

Can i apply a acrylic clear coat over humbrol enamel paint?

Many thanks

Thank you so much for the warm welcome JimD, much appreciated!!

And for the advice, thanx a mil, been getting lots of mixed information with regards to that.
Will test it out on some left over parts.

This is something i was curious about myself. I was always told you couldn't, but i figured you maybe could since once its dry its essentially all the same stuff.
Although i did hear a little rumor that you couldn't go the other way because the solvents in the enamel eat the acrylic.

I completely agree with Jim. Acrylics can be used to cover enamels. I do this all the time : a Future coat before decal and an flat coat to finish.

We love to make new friends. Hope you have a sense of humor! The Germans don't.
