Borg’s Fujimi 1/48 Bf-109 G10/Avia S.99

Post by BorgR3mc0 »

I delved out my kit for this build and aftermarket items for this build. This all came about in steps. I bought this kit on sale. Then I found out it had no decals. I wasn’t really sure what scheme to choose (so many choices for a late war 109) but already bought some resin and photo tech stuff. The resin is generic but the PE is made for the Academy kit. So the fit might be a problem.
I then saw the Czech post war colour scheme. And found a nice set for it. It is a masking set, not a decal set! This will be the first time I use a masking set so I am a bit apprehensive about it.

The Fujimi kit is as they say “ a mixed bag”. It gives a lot of options but at the cost of being a bit over engineered. It has panel lines for the G-5 to K series so these wil have to be filled selectively. The nose is also to short. I have taken some pictures of that. Because the nose is to short the slope of the nose is also to steep (it is pinched in the vertical axis). The exhaust and gun ports are in the right place. But the tip (between the engine cover and propellor hub ) is 2mm to short. I have a plan to fix that. I am not sure how I can correct the slope.

I'm not familiar with this manufacture, it will be interesting to see how you tackle this with the different shaped molds of the aircraft

Small progress: I have been working of the resin exhausts. These are generic and not designed for any particular kit. So it toke some time to get them to fit.

Not familiar with Fujimi, or the Avia built variant of the 109?

Another update:

I have been working on the cockpit. I have used an Eduard PE set, designed for an Academy kit. The fit is actually quite good.
