I did the Hasegawa -3 in 1/72 with a True Details interior resin set, nice kit.

Hi John, I saw that TD interior set on ebay. How would you rate it? I am horrible with resin so if it's not a great fit, it's not for me

The Dauntless is an excellent aircraft, and you're off to a great start Chris! Personally I'd ignore the resin interior and just enjoy building what you've got. I didn't actually know Hasegawa did a kit of this, I might have to get one (and a Devastator if I can find one).

... I have a thing for F4F as well, but I digress…
Me too! (I'd also like to build all the WWII USN aircraft in 1/72)
Currently on my bench - the Airfix Wildcat is a great option in 1/72. Don't however touch the Italeri Hellcat with a ten foot pole, or even a twenty foot one - it's a dog of a kit. This'll be going in the bin when finished and I'll be getting something better.

It was average to work with. Here is my build log, the page with my comments on it. The Hasegawa interior is very basic and quite visible even with a closed canopy.
