In the Hangar, we managed to work on a few planes that had been languishing. In this first bay, we managed to get most of the catapult painted. The tape is simply holding the cable down until final completion:
Naturally, we painted the plane as well. Later we'll paint the interior and try to find the canopy to close this up:
Here is is sitting on the catapult. Looking pretty good, but not nearly as good as other completed models of this I've seen:
Moving on to this next bay; we have the Russian Yak 28 Recon bird all painted with base coats. Camouflage will come later:
In this next bay we have a model that was given to me in an AC-47 gunship box. It was actually a Williams Brothers C-46 Cargo plane that had been started. The original builder painted all the major parts and added the decals to it before even starting to assemble it. I had to build the wings, including adding the interior plates for the landing gear:
Here's a dry-fit representation of how this looks, with the interior peeking out from under the starboard wing. Mind you, I'm building this from memory as there's no instructions that came with it:
Finally in this last bay the two B-2 Stealth Bombers finally were smooth enough for a first primer coat of flat black after months of sanding, filling, sanding, re-gluing, sanding, filling..... you get the idea. Base coat should be going on these soon:
That completes the tour of the Hangar, now on to the Shipyards.....
Here in the shipyards, we went back to getting some more ships finished that had been languishing in dry dock for awhile. First up, we got the main deck painted on the Peter Strasser, bringing him closer to being done:
In the next bay, the keel of the USS Alaska had been laid, so additional work on the superstructure got started:
Which was later tested in a dry-fit on the hull:
Additional little detailed sub assemblies had been done as well.
So far that is what we have in the Shipyards, now on to the Motor Pool which has been working full steam.
Here in the first bay we have the German 105mm AA gun which has been giving me so much trouble. Nothing has been working like advertised on this, even the gun mount couldn't hold the barrel in the trunnion. So a fix was attempted:
Which naturally snapped off when I tried to close this up. This has been put aside to be worked on much late when I decide I want to get back to it.
Moving on to the next bay, it was decided to build three old PST kits that had been sitting for awhile. The first one is the old ISU-122, variant unknown. I did look at the other three I had built, and so chose this version since it's the only barrel I hadn't put on any others:
That was just dry-fit above, so I could remove the top and install the wheels and tracks:
Finally the top was secured on the lower hull:
Detail parts were added in preparation for painting:
Basecoat was added next:
Followed by decals:
This beastie is about ready to be finished...
In the next bay, is the other PST kit; this one is a one- or two-off vehicle that was built to challenge the German Tigers and King Tigers, and was nicknamed the "Russian Tiger" by it's crews. One or two prototypes were built, and were subsequently lost during the Siege of Leningrad. We started with the lower hull:
Followed by the few details on the upper hull:
The turret was built next and I did my damnedest to get it to close up, not too successfully in this picture:

While reading up on this tank, I found multiple references and mentions of the KV-1S, which I had sitting on the shelf for a long time with no plans to ever build it. After reading more on the KV-1S, I decided I needed that tank in my Red Army. This time we built the turret first:
You can see already, this kit was a mish-mash of parts from various KV variants put out by PST. After the turret was built, the hull was started:
Upper hull and details were added to the top of this:
Followed by some additional refinement on the turret:
This went together very well, and was a blast to build:
Moving on to the next bay, we have the Russian MAZ-537 tank transporter sitting idle. This is because the clear parts had gone missing but they were found:
The cab was then completed and added to the chassis:
Finally I had the chance to see what this was gonna look like in the future:
The painting of the cab was completed along with some other details:
Later we painted the trailer despite the loading ramps on the back being left off until later:
Those loading ramps were supposed to elevate and lower, but a vital part disappeared into the Oblivion wastes, so I just glued them in place since all my efforts to fabricate something to make it work failed miserably. This kit wasn't worth the time or effort....
Later this was fully painted and ready for final finishing:
Finally in this last bay, we started another Roden kit, this one is the Vomag converted into a heavy AA gun vehicle. These were developed to follow Hitler's train to provide anti-air protection, and probably to protect from ground assault too. First up was the main chassis:
I did build the engine for this, but when I realized it was going to be closed up never to be seen again, I decided to leave it out so I could display it on a stand or something:
Later base body sub assemblies went on:
The mesh was provided in the kit. Nice touch! Those sides are only dry-fit for ease of painting (and/or repair) later.
Driver's compartment completed and the hood was closed up:
The gun was next, fairly straightforward:
However, several attempts to get it mounted on the trunnions almost resulted in a repeat of the 105mm gun affair. Fortunately, so far that has not happened:
Outriggers were added, extra detail parts installed and gun was mounted. This is almost ready for paint:
And that concludes the tour of the Motor Pool, but we have one more stop to go....
Here in the Space Port, we decided on a fast and fun build to go with the Millenium Falcon game we are planning. I figured that at some time, the Imperials would call in air support, so I found the only T.I.E. spacecraft I had in my stash to build, Bandai's T.I.E Interceptor. It went together real fast:
It isn't painted yet, but the solar panels were molded in black so I did a silver dry-brush over them before assembling the wing panels.
