Although sadly the the Testors rattle can gloss and flat coats have taken on a seriously noticeable amber hue in the 15+ years since my original photos were taken… :headslap:
Did you say amber hue Carlos? :hmm: You may have done it sir! You may have cracked the code to the elusive 'real a6m2 zero color' we have sought after for decades! :giggles: Now, let me get this straight, Model Master Gull Grey + Model Master Clear + wait 15 years? :giggles: :giggles: :giggles:
Actually it was Ghost Grays... then Model Master rattle can gloss coat, decals, then Model Master rattle can flat coat...

Even 15+ years ago when I took this photo, you can see the difference between the uncoated drop tank and the "clear" coated airframe...

its only changed more in the years since then...

It occurs to me that I've never actually built a Tomcat... Well finished one anyway. :hmm: I really must rectify that.

Sadly, there are no kits of smoking craters….
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

Carlos and Tom, you both have fine taste in Tomcat Markings :shoutout: :shoutout: :shoutout:

Stuart -- you need to build a Tomcat. I am sure you can find an old Airfix Tomcat. Just glue bomb it, rattle can it and call it done :giggles:

I don't have an Airfix one, but I do have the olllldddd Hasegawa kit, along with the Tamiya (which I am finding a bit intimidating).

If you can build any Mig in the colors of any country we’ve fought, a Luftwaffe 109, or Japanese Zero, you can build an Iranian Tomcat. It’s just a Cat under the wrong ownership :hmm:
