The camo reveal has arrived....

Image

There is a couple minor paint lift you cannot see. No biggie to fix.

Undersides shot. I knew there was some paint bleed from the topside camo work. Oh well, I knew it was gonna happen. Isn't this hobby fun?!?

Overall, I'm happy with how it came out overall once the minor fixes are taken care of.

Looking good Tom! A few touch ups to attend to here and there, but overall shaping up nicely! :hmm:

Used my pencil sander on low to lightly sand off the lumps from the paint bleed. Sprayed it with another coat of camo grey. Good thing I put in my order to replenish it. I’ve got a few items in my shopping cart along with….. wait for it….

Academy 1/72 scale PBY-5A Catalina; Battle of Midway 80th Anniversary kit.

I decided to hold off on the F4U-1A Corsair kit by Magic Factory for another day.

I have never done a PBY kit before but it’ll be a nice addition to the Rufe and Kingfisher floatplane collection.

There is a couple other floatplane kits that’s caught my eye and is currently in my Watch List at Scalehobbyist site:

F4F-3S Wildcatfish, Aichi M6A1 Serbian, TBD-1A Devastator floatplane and the J2F-5 Duck. The Supermarine Walrus Mk.I looks like a cool biplane floatplane to build but I’m not crazy about the complicated rigging involved. :whiteflag: :bag:

I always get bleed from the topsides, I'm sure you'll have no issue tidying it up.

That is looking most excellent!

I will admit…. I kinda fixed a couple camo spots. From squared to curve. Easy peasy. I’m surprised I didn’t get any bleeds topside but I kinda had a feeling I’d get it undersides.

After we came home from the LRB concert, I found time to spray a coat of gloss clear to prep for decal session later on tonight.

For those in the states, go see Little River Band. This year is the Happy Anniversary Tour of 50 years. A fun concert and I was pleasantly surprised they put on a great show. Heard a couple songs I had forgotten they played. After they played Cool Change and the “encore” everybody thought that was the end.

Until the lead singer says hold on… we ain’t done yet. Y’all got time to party for 5 more minutes. We’re going back to 1978. Lonesome Loser was the real encore. And what an encore it was. Got the audience singing along. Fun night.

Sounds like quite a night. I always enjoyed their work.

Two nights' decal work...

Will have to fold down excess decals on chute section tomorrow. Then I'll put the final tail decals on.

After that, clearcoat, install landing gears and doors, then remove tape from canopy.

Nice, really nice Tom. I do like it when the decals go on a model - it really brings it to life.
